SWE M: Hylte/Halmstad end 30-game winning streak of Linköpings to take 1-0 lead in playoff finals

Hylte/Halmstad made a huge upset by beating Linköpings VC in Game 1 of Swedish volleyball championship Elitserien 2017/18 playoff finals.

The second-seed Hylte/Halmstad lost all three games to No.1 Linköpings this season but won the most important one, so far.

Hylte/Halmstad prevailed over titleholders in Game 1 of the best-of-five Elitserien 2017/18 playoff finals, which lasted for two and a half hours – 3-2 (30-32, 25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 18-16).Thus, Hylte/Halmstad ended Linköpings’ 30-game winning streak!

The American Nicholas Goodell highlighted the winning side with 26 points. Philip Pettersson made 6 kill blocks. Linköpings had as much as six players in double digits, led by Martin Larsson, who scored 17 points. The Serbian Petar Turanjanin recorded 4 kill blocks, while Johan Eriksson made 74% reception (19 digs, 42% perfect).

Game 2 will be played on April 19.
