Italian superstar has finally recovered from injury that was bothering him throughout the whole last season. Zaytsev is playing truly great in the World League 2015, although he is not acting on his primary position of an opposite,. Head coach Berruto has been using him as a receiver so far in the competition…

“I am starting to feel better on the court, but I still need more practice. Every season I have kind of a strange situation, as I am changing positions in the national team (laugh). But, I am trying not to think about that or the injury, I am trying to be only positive” started Zaytsev.

Italy has already qualified for the World League Final-Six. What are your expectations before the final tournament in Rio?

“We are a pretty new group and we are still trying to forget the nightmares from the last World Championship. But, we are feeling confident. These final games should help us get prepared for the Final-Six.”

After the World League you will start preparing for the European Championship, and Italy might be stronger for Osmany Juantorena. Do you think that he can help you reach your goals?

“We are expecting Osmany and waiting for his arrival. We think that he can help us a lot. Hopefully he will play on the position of receiver so I can go back to play opposite or perhaps go rest on the bench (laugh).”

Let us speak about your club career for a while. There were a lot of rumors that some teams were interested to sign you this summer, including your former club Lube. What was the real truth behind those stories?

“Every time, every year there are rumors. They start somewhere around February and lasts until the summer. Those were just rumors, nothing more.”

So, you are definitely staying in Dinamo Moscow?

“Yes, I am returning to Moscow after the national team campaign. I have to give Dinamo something more in the next season. Perhaps to give them two years in one, because I missed most of the last season due to injury. Hopefully, the next season will be much better.”

What will be the main goal for Dinamo in the next season?

“To reach the Final Four of the Champions League! We are coming back to the best club’s competition and we want to achieve a good result.”
