Hamamatsu, Japan, November 29, 2011 – Italian starters Dragan Travica, Michal Lasko and Ivan Zaytsev’s surnames may not sound Italian but the three players are very much Italian at heart.

Ivan Zaytsev is one of Italy’s attacking weapons for the FIVB World Cup

The trio make half of the lethal starting unit of Italy, which currently hold the third spot after the third round of play

They wish to achieve what their fathers have achieved in the past – to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics and hopefully bring home a gold medal just like Michal and Ivan’s fathers have accomplished – only wearing a different jersey.

Ivan has a strong conviction to win a big competition such as the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup for the reason that he has the dedication to the Italian flag. Winning an Olympic medal may be one of the most difficult challenges of an athlete, but for Zaytsev, this can also be proof that their father’s accomplishments can be matched.
