“I’m very happy, because we achieved this result with a new group that after the Olympic Games changed a lot. Many of the players in this team wouldn’t have thought we could achieve this. Now we play against Russia in the semifinal, the same team that we met in the Intercontinental round. They won one match and we won the other one.
Although disappointed with defeat and missing out on the final-four on home soil, Argentinian coach Javier Weber was happy to concentrate on the positives for his team.
“We need to make less errors if we want to defeat big teams like Italy. I think the experience is important for us and I am satisfied with the players’ performances because we had good moments, even playing without Facundo Conte, but we have to keep on working on our game and improving.”
Pablo Crer agreed with his coach about Argentina‘s overall performance at the 2013 World League Finals. “We didn’t play well and lost our matches, but we have to learn a lot and keep on training to correct the mistakes for future tournaments.”
Italy has now won 10 of their previous 15 World League matches against Argentina.
