It sounds like a mission impossible for the Austrian underdogs as described by their head coach Johan Verstappen especially since their Russian opponents won the last edition of Europe’s elite competition.
They do not know our players and our strategy so maybe we can surprise our opponentsVerstappen says. “If we play rather unconventionally, maybe a miracle is still possible. However, taking into account the quality of the players standing on the other side of the net, even this recipe as well as a motivated team may not be enough to cause a sensation” he continues.
The Austrians feel pretty confident at the moment as last weekend they could beat ACH Volley LJUBLJANA at the tie-break in the prelims of the Middle European League. This outstanding performance was an additional booster for the players of Posojilnica who are accompanied on their journey to Novosibirsk by 25 passionate supporters who would be delighted to celebrate a miracle in Siberia.
