Coach of the German national team, Vital Heynen, talked about France game, his team in Poland and how much he likes WorldofVolley (and he likes it very much).

What went wrong last night?

“France really didn’t make any mistakes. That was the biggest problem. After two sets I think they had about three mistakes and we simply were unsure about what to do. You know, our style is to wait for the opponent to show some weakness, make some mistakes and then beat them in areas where they can’t respond. So when the team plays like France did last night, we lose our rhythm and our system pretty much. Then we give points away where we shouldn’t.” Heynen said. “This is the best result in German volleyball in 40 years, so we don’t have an experienced team when it comes to a big games and a big stage. The only one with big international experience is Grozer.”

Why was Fromm out?

“It was a technical decision, nothing more. You said that Kaliberda and him can’t play together but I think you are wrong. Last summer we had them on the court the whole time and it worked very well, but this is not the last summer though. We just can’t find a good position for him right now, which is a shame because he is a great player.”

Are you looking forward to next season in Bydgoszcz?

“They just won friendly tournament so it’s maybe for the best if I don’t come back (laughs). We have the goal of being in top 5 teams in Poland. It’s the team I really, really like. Why? Because all of them, every single one of my players wants to prove something and I just love that. For me it’s not important how good they are, it’s about how good they want to become. Cupkovic, Nally, Jarosz, Woicki, Duff, they all want to be much better, to prove they are good players, and that’s what I need in my team.”

Do you check out WorldofVolley?

“Every day. The thing with WorldofVolley is that in this moment, you guys have the most written news in English which is very, very helpful. Keep up the good work!”

And good luck to you coach, especially tonight!
