A few days before Christmas the girls of SCHWERINER SC visited the recently opened “Helios Children’s Clinic” to show their support for those in need.

After four years of construction, the “Helios Children’s Clinic” was finally opened with a solemn ceremony and with the great support expressed by the people of Schwerin.

Now, the little patients, their families and the clinic staff will find the best possible conditions to secure the most efficient care that the children need in order to go back to normal life.

Prof. Dr. Peter Clemens, head of surgery, stated that “this is the most beautiful children’s clinic that I have ever seen, and I have seen many”.

He also acknowledged the great support given by the city and its people who understand the significance of a society helping each other.

As representatives of that society, the ladies of SCHWERINER SC attended the opening day of the children’s clinic thereby giving something back to the city and its people.

The players visited the different hospital wards, talked to the little patients and put a smile on their faces by giving out small presents like balls, candies and autographed cards.

Julia Retzlaff, team captain, expressed the idea behind their visit: “We receive so much support by the city and its people throughout the year. They cheer on us, they suffer with us. This is just a small thing we can do to give something back”.

All in all, the children, their families and the hospital staff enjoyed to interact with the players face-to-face instead of seeing them on TV or from the stands in the arena.

The SSC ladies will try to continue to put smiles on the faces of the people of Schwerin, and not just by playing their favorite game.
