Although his team did not deliver the performance he was hoping for, Denmark head coach Olof Bjorkman was happy with the result of the game: “I think we played a good match. This was not our best as the girls were nervous being this the first match of the tournament. We served well and this helped us bring it home as we wanted. Our setter did a good job even though she has been suffering of a foot injury”.

Cyprus mentor Emmanouil Roumeliotis was evidently not satisfied: “We have a very young team and most of my players will be eligible to play in this age category also in two years. However, these matches are a good experience for our group. They have been working together only for one year and they are still very young, but have good potential. Denmark served well tonight and our reception was not good enough” he stresses.

Trine Noer Kjelstrup paced Denmark with 18 points while Eftychia Irakli top scored for Cyprus with 7.
