The Pan-American Cup will be the first international competition of the light blue – white jersey team coached by Guillermo Orduna and his coaching team. They started working very hard last March and now will start a very demanding international season that includes the qualification for the 2014 World Championship.
Argentina travelled to Peru with 12 players on Saturday with the goal of qualifying for fourth consecutive year for the FIVB Grand Prix. Nevertheless the main goal of this season are the qualifications for the World Championship on the short run and the Olympic Games on the long run on this new cycle.
After Puerto Rico, Argentina will play on Tuesday, June 11th v Trinidad & Tobago also at 20.00 while the closing match of the first round, Pool A will be on Wednesday, June 12th v the powerful team of USA. All three matches will take place in Callao venue.
Pool B will take place in Iquitos with the host team of Peru, Costa Rica, Cuba and Canada while Pool C in Huacho will face Brazil, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Colombia.
The best result for Argentina at the Pan-American Cup is a Bronze Medal in the year 2008.
