In the interview for sportowefakty.pl, Uriarte did not want to reveal true reasons for not playing for Argentina in Rio 2016, but he did say that it had nothing to do with the fact that head coach was giving advantage to Luciano De Cecco.

“Like every sportsman, my dream is to play at the Olympic Games. Therefore, the decision to leave the national team was very difficult for me and it cost me many sleepless nights. However, after a long analysis of the pros and cons I decided to leave. It was the best solution for me and for the team. I had no problems with the fact that I was a reserve and Luciano was the starting setter. Also, there is Damien Gonzalez who is also a very good player and who is very capable of replacing me. The reasons for my decision to leave the team are different and I do not want to go into details…” said Uriarte.
