The Argentine volleyball federation (FeVA) is at risk not to have all the best players at the disposal for the first edition of the FIVB Men’s Nations League, a successor of the FIVB World League, Voley Plus reported.

According to Voley Plus, unfulfilled promises of an Argentine volleyball federation (FeVA) regarding the prizes for the 2017 FIVB World League might escalate into a boycott of the players who competed for the national team in it for the next edition of the tournament, the 2018 FIVB Nations League.

The players claim they agreed to terms of payment with FeVA before the tournament and the national federation now avoids fulfilling them. Allegedly, some of the players seriously reconsider not to take part in this year’s FIVB Nations League.

As Voley Plus revealed, the FeVA leadership informed the players that the agreed prizes will be reduced, even asking the players to pay the plane tickets on their own. Instead of paying the first installment of 60% in December and 40% in January, FeVA set new dynamics of a payment: 50% in December and 50% in March. Until today, the players did not receive the money and no longer trust a single word to the federation officials.

“As every year, the prizes arise from the victories, the defeats and the final position in the tournament. The FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) makes the corresponding settlement and the FeVA derives a percentage intended to the players, who are always paid the following year. By the order of the players, a part was about to be paid in December but the settlement from the FIVB came later and did not give us the time,” the FeVA press officer Martín De Rose explained.

But, the other side has a different version: the prizes are fixed (no percentage) and payment should comply with the given word.

The money from the FIVB comes everytime before the end of the year, usually last week of December so the FIVB is not the problem…

Argentina produce great players but they lack of payment commitment like greece league and other entities. Volleyball doest give much money and it does some people keep it for themselves.
