BRA M: Taubaté prevail in three-hour battle against Sesi, Cruzeiro finish 2017 Superliga campaign with a sweep

In nearly a three-hour battle filled with twists and turns, the Superliga runners-up Taubaté (8-2, 22 points) beat home side Sesi (7-3, 21 points) in the tie-break, partially 25-18, 30-28, 22-25, 22-25, 21-19, to make a leap to the third place in the standings. Wallace Souza from Taubaté and Alan Souza from Sesi shared the top scorer title with 25 points apiece.

Led by Evandro Guerra and Isac Santos, who tallied 10 points each, Sada Cruzeiro finished this year’s campaign in Superliga with a sweep over Vôlei Renata (Leandro Vissotto 12 points) on the road. Now, the Brazilian titleholders, who lead the standings with 10-1 and 30 points, will travel to Poland for the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship (December 12-17). Cruzeiro will play their next game in the national league on January 13 against the second-placed Sesc-RJ.

The newcomers Corinthians-Guarulhos continued with a very promising campaign, achieving the 6th win (3 defeats), as they put down Lebes/Canoas away by a 3-0. Rodrigo Nascimento ‘Rivaldo’ highlighted the winning side with 17 points. Aboubacar Neto ‘Abou’ notched 21 points for Canoas, who are at 4-5 and 11 points.
