Latvia’s 6-game winning streak that stretched throughout pool stage of the tournament and during which they lost only 3 sets came to an end. Belarus out-blocked Latvia in the first semifinal, scoring a straight-set victory – partially 25-18, 25-22, 25-15. Belarus made 7 of 14 team’s kill blocks in the first set, paving the way toward final. Andrei Radziuk was the best scorer for Belarus with 14 points while Siarhei Busel set up 6 kill blocks. Reinis Pekmans and Romāns Saušs noted 11 points apiece for Latvia.
Croatia staged an epic comeback against the home side of Macedonia from a 0-2 to 3-2 – partially 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-9. Macedonia’s Nikola Gjorgiev took the reins of the match by making 9 of his 27 points in total in the opening set, continuing to spout in the second set as well. Then, Croatia’s bomber and also the top scorer of the tournament overall Leo Andrić woke up leading his team to a tie, scoring 8 of his 28 points in the fourth period. Macedonia succumbed to a pressure and lost the fifth set as well. Ivan Mihalj added 4 kill blocks to Croatia’s win.
