Guidetti
Netherlands played against Brazil two friendly games in Amsterdam and lost both of them. Of course, there is no shame in losing from the reigning Olympic champions, but Giovanni Guidetti, the head coach of the Dutch team, got really angry with his players because of their game approach.
Dutch players should have had a free day after the second game, so they could go to their homes, but Guidetti punished them by canceling a day off and making them come to training instead.
“We did not play well. I watch these players every day on trainings and I know what they can. It makes me angry when I see someone attacks only with intention not to make a mistake, instead of trying to score. This punishment is a signal I want to send. From now on, the only thing that matters is that we play better. And you won’t play better if you stay at home…” said Guidetti for volleybalkrant.nl.
