As sportal.bg learned, the Bulgarian top male volleyball prospect Asparuh Asparuhov illegally competes for the national championship Superliga club, Montana!
A 17-year-old outside hitter is registered for Montana since the beginning of the season but without a permission of Slavia Sofia, the club whose jersey he wore last season.
Slavia filed a complaint with the Bulgarian volleyball federation (BVF) against Montana, who will be penalized if this turns out to be true. At the same time the “New Kaziyski”, which is the nickname of Asparuhov, faces a suspension of one and a half year.
As the president of Slavia, who was relegated from Superliga last season, said to sportal.bg, Asparuhov is not a member of the club as the competition rights for him are held by his father. Still, in order to move to another club, a written permission from Asparuhov’s previous club, which is, in this case, Slavia, that says his ex-club has no claims towards the athlete, is necessary.
