In the semifinal, the Final Four hosts UVC Holding Graz justified the role of the favorites against VBC TLC Weiz, in the Styrian derby, but only after a two-hour battle that stretched into five sets, partially 25-11, 25-15, 22-25, 31-33, 15-11.

Clemens Unterberger topped Graz with 16 points, while Stefan Haller scored the same amount of points for the losing side. It is noteworthy that Austrian cup regulations do not allow foreign players to compete in the tournament.

As for the other semifinal, the trophy defenders SG VCA Amstetten NÖ/hotVolleys beat low-ranked VC Mils in straight sets, partially 27-25, 25-21, 25-20, with 11 points apiece from Thomas Tröthann and Maximilian Ladfahrer. David Sprenger and Paul Fabrizi scored 11 points each for Mils as well.

The final of the 2018 Austrian cup will be played at the Bluebox-Arena on March 3.
