For the sixth time in their history, Trentino Itas are in the final of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship. With an almost perfect performance, the Italian side eliminated the defending champions, and also hosts, Cruzeiro from Brazil in the semi-finals of the edition 2022. Angelo Lorenzetti’s guys dominated the first set, controlled the second, and outclassed the rivals (second-best for the number of titles in the competition: 4) in the third set of a match played without stress for them.

Alessandro Michieletto led Trentino with 16 points (4 aces) through a 78.57% attack (11/14). Wallace de Soza and Miguel Ángel López tallied 10 apiece for Cruzeiro. Trentino have returned to Italy with the gold medal around their players’ necks every time they’ve come to the duel for the title: this was the case from 2009 to 2012 and in 2018 when it won its fifth and for now last title. Trentino thus far won all three matches played in the Clun World Champs.

During the night, Sir Safety Susa Perugia repeated Trentino’s result, nipping in the bud any ambitions of Itambé Minas, the last Brazilian side still in contention, and qualifying for the final act of a tournament in the state of Minas Gerais.

The Pole Kamil Semeniuk top-scored the ’Block Devils’ with 15 points, including 4 aces.
