ITA W: Imoco record 61st consecutive win, will play for title against Novara for 3rd season in row

Imoco Volley Conegliano and Igor Gorgonzola Novara will compete for the Scudetto of the 2020/21 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship for the 3rd consecutive season.

A face-off for the title in the Italian Women’s Championship will feature two same teams for the 3rd season in a row. The top-seed Imoco and 2nd-seed Novara swept their respective playoff semifinal series of the 2020/21 Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile and scheduled the first encounter for Scudetto for April 17.

Beating the 5th-seed Savino Del Bene Scandicci by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-15) in Game 2 (the same result was in Game 1), Imoco achieved their 61st consecutive victory in all competition, thus gaining access to the final for the 5th time in the club history. Paola Egonu tallied 16 points for the Conegliano side. Sarah Fahr made 5 blocks, while Miriam Sylla and had 78 % reception (18 digs, 1 error, 50 % perfect).

Novara repeated the final outcome of Game 1 against 3rd-seed Saugella Monza, this time doing it easier (3-1; Game 1 was 3-2). Caterina Bosetti top-scored the winning side with 17 points. Dutch Nika Daalderop was great in defense, making 76 % reception (25 digs, 1 error, 32 % perfect).
