Dimitrov, the 21-year-old opposite hitter of Ravenna, was injured last evening in a car accident that took place just before 8 p.m. local time at Lido Adriano where he resides. The Bulgarian National Team member was involved in a head-on collision between his and another car with two men aged 48 and 52 onboard. All three injured people, including Dimitrov, got out of the cars alive, none of them with life-threatening injuries. However, they were all taken to hospital in Ravenna by an ambulance with so-called code 2, i.e. of medium severity.

The first diagnostic tests excluded complications and fractures of Dimitrov but the doctors left him in a hospital for 48-hour monitoring of the general condition.
