It is official: One of the best male volleyball outside hitters in the world, Ricardo Lucarelli, will be wearing the jersey of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in the next two seasons.
What was promised by the Piacenza officials was fulfilled: After Simón, now came Lucarelli. In the meantime, Leal arrived, too, making a true dream team on the SuperLega side.
Brazilian Lucarelli has reinforced the squad available to Lorenzo Bernardi not only for the next season but also for the one after that. The Olympic champion with ’Seleção’ in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio in which he was awarded the Best Outside Spiker signed with Piacenza after a season in which he won the VNL as well as the Italian Championship Cucine Lube Civitanova.
There’s not much more to say about this 30-year-old star (3-time FIVB World League Best Outside Spiker, MVP of the Brazilian Championship in 2018-19…) apart from what has already been said: phenomenal in reception and defense, devastating in service, and very technical in attacking fundamentals. Last season in Lube, Lucarelli made 35 appearances in the league, the Italian Cup, and the playoffs. He scored 424 points scored, of which 48 were aces and 39 blocks.
