A big derby of the 13th round of Serie A1, between the home team of Sir Safety Perugia and Modena Volley, had a downside during the first set which went on in an atmosphere of a great enthusiasm in the crowded PalaEvangelisti hall (4,000 spectators).

But then, it was 20-18 for Modena after the attack of Perugia’s Gabriele Maruotti.

Perugia requested a video check and the looks of the players and spectators have suddenly turned towards the stands behind the benches, where the medical staff wearing orange jackets had risen to rescue a middle-aged fan who collapsed to a cardiac arrest.

The match was then suspended for almost half an hour, the time required for the medical staff to practice CPR on the man several times. Afterwards he was transported to a nearby hospital.
