JPN W: Drews keeps Marvelous at top of league, AquaFairies lose 14th match in a row

The JT Marvelous prevailed over Toray Arrows in the big match of the penultimate round of the Japanese Women’s Volleyball Championship regular season in 2019.

The leaders of the Star Conference and also of the 2019/20 V.League Division 1 Women regular season overall, JT Marvelous, beat the vice-leaders of the conference Toray Arrows by a 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 17-25, 15-12). With this win, the team from Nishinomiya collected 49 points (17-4). American Andrea “Annie“ Drews top-scored for the Marvelous with 29 points, while Azerbaijani Jana Kulan and Ai Kurogo tallied 22 points each for Toray.

The leaders of the Premier Conference and also the second-best team in the competition overall, Denso Airybees, recorded the 7th successive victory. The PFU BlueCats ended their 5-game losing streak by beating Kurobe AquaFairies who remained by far the side with the worst record in the league. They have only one win and extended their losing streak to as many as 14 defeats.
