CUB W: Cuba’s players leaving national team

Cuban volleyball is in serious crisis. After the Olympic Games, some of the major players decided to leave the national team. Gyselle Silva, Wilma Salas and Yanelis Santos announced that they will not play for Cuba anymore. Juan Carlos Gala can count on Cleger, Palacios and Giel Ramos to prepare the team form Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Juan Carlos Gala, coach of the women’s national team, will have to start almost from scratch in order to prepare for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Cleger, Giel Ramos and Palacios are the ones that will be available. The group will rely on several young players on the team for adult competitions of 2013.

Cuba‘s a triple Olympic and the world champion. Today the selection occupies only the thirteenth position in the world ranking.
