Artur Szalpuk, the player who became the world champion with the Poland Men’s Volleyball National Team three years ago, will surprisingly continue his career in Ukraine.
Polish male volleyball players do not go to play abroad so often and if they make such a step, they usually choose a league equal or stronger than the one in their home country, PlusLiga, which is considered one of the top 5 both in terms of quality and earnings. A 26-year-old Szalpuk decided to deviate from such an unwritten rule and joined the Ukrainian vice-champions Epitsentr-Podoliany. The outside hitter revealed this in an interview for TVP Sport.
Szalpuk, who has been a member of the Poland National Team since 2015 but did not make it to the lists of players for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and upcoming EuroVolley, spent the last season in VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa. In Epitsentr, he will be coached by fellow countryman Mariusz Sordyl.
