The new season of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Championship officially kicked off today.
The opening round of the 2021 China Telecom National Championship (official name this season) kicked off with a big match in Shanghai in which the club of the same name hosted Guangdong. It was a replay of the last face-off for the bronze medal with the same outcome. Shanghai prevailed in four sets, partially 24-26, 25-12, 25-18, and 25-19. Liu Zhening top-scored the winning side with 21 points.
Tianjin, the defending champions, had an easy start to the competition. They achieved a clear 3-0 triumph over Yunnan in which Chen Boya tallied 17 points, including five blocks.
The vice-champions Jiangsu defeated league’s powerhouse Beijing in straight sets.
