The Thai female volleyball icon, Nootsara Tomkom, will stay in the ranks of the Diamond Food-Fine Chef Sport Club but will get new powers and assignments.
Diamond Food signed a new deal with Nootsara, the most popular Thai player ever. Now the 37-year-old veteran setter will be playing her third consecutive season in the Saraburi-based club, which announced keeping the former country’s national team player on the squad on its social media.
Due to her quality and experience, the two-time Thai champions decided to give Nootsara an additional role. Next season, the five-time Asian Championship Best Setter will be an addition to the staff of head coach Kittikun Sriutthawong, with her main duty being to support young players on the roster. Nootsara’s influence on the team was so huge that only half of the last season was enough for her (she spent the first half of the season in the USA’s Athletes Unlimited pro league) to improve the play of the Diamond Food, resulting in the team defending the Thai Championship title.
