Elwani started the meeting with a welcome speech, pointing out that it was the first ordinary meeting for the CAVB Development Commission following its formation during the 2011 CAVB Congress in Sudan. He noted that development is the key to improving the sport in Africa.

“We will see today how Africa has started the long road towards the development of the sport on the three main levels – at the national federations, the continental zones and the whole continental level,” Elwani stated. “I’m asking the Commission members to do their best to discuss every aspect of our sport in order to present proposals to the board and get more tools for development.”

CAVB Executive Director Mrs. Howyda Mondy presented the 2009- 2012 CAVB Strategic Plan and pointed out that Africa achieved about 90 per cent of the goals of the project up to now. She also showed the courses implemented by CAVB since 2010.
