There are three FIVB technical evaluators covering volleyball and beach volleyball who are responsible for filming the respective competitions, evaluating them and presenting them for future training purposes.

The comments at the halfway stage of the volleyball competition from the FIVB technical evalutators are the following:

1) The top teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions deliver an attractive and spectacular game. This is especially true for the men’s game where power, speed and team play are at the highest level.

2) For men: the spectacular and powerful jump serves, the variable back-row attacks and the blocking and defensive technique create more rallies. The physical game at the net illustrates the power of volleyball; while the overhand reception and the use of two liberos, one for reception another for defence, shows how flexible volleyball can be.

3) For women, the variable serving technique, the attacking combinations with back-row attacks and the use of two liberos are prevalent.
