The winners of this first round will go on to play a second round of qualification matches. The winner in Cairo will host Japan to take the men’s team, while the winner of the Rotterdam matches will welcome Portugal. A precise schedule for the second round is yet to be confirmed.

Both Iran and Dominican Republic will be aiming to qualify for the World League for the first time in their countries’ histories. In Egypt and the Netherlands they face established teams that will pose a serious challenge to their ambitions.
