The Dominican Republic cruised to a straight-set victory (25-12, 25-14, 25-10) over Guadeloupe in the first match of the event. The more experienced Dominicans relied on their stronger serves and overall skills to subdue the opposition.
Luis Adames and Elnis Palomino topped the winners with 11 and 10 points respectively and Eduardo Concepción chipped in with 8 tallies. Ludovic Baltyde and Alexandre Watson each had six points for Guadeloupe.
The Dominicans, who made 14 errors to 25 by the losers, out-served their opponents 6-2 with Palomino recording three aces.
