A businessman and mayor of Brezovica, Ropret was the only candidate running for the OZS presidency; he eventually received a total of 51 votes from the 62 delegates in attendance.
Ropret chairs a real Volleyball family as his daughter Petra currently plays for Vital LJUBLJANA while son Gregor represents ACH Volley, the club that is currently participating in the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League, and is also a member of the national team.
“I will do my best to improve the status of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball here in Slovenia. I am extremely glad that so many delegates joined our General Assembly but at the same time I know that we have some demanding tasks ahead. Still, I know and fully understand that things can’t be changed overnight. We need to implement a series of actions to achieve that long-term improvement we all long for. We will especially have to discuss the program of our national teams taking into account the current difficult financial situation we are being confronted with, but with the intention and goal of providing the best conditions to our players. To achieve all this I will need the support of our Volleyball council and our experts” he says.
“In my opinion we shall reduce the number of Commissions in order to improve the quality and efficiency of our work, making the necessary changes to the OZS statutes. Finally, to improve our finances we shall work closely with a marketing agency and nominate some good economists to our Board” he concludes.
