Jacek Nawrocki, the head coach of the Poland Women’s Volleyball National Team, has chosen 14 players who will try to book a ticket for the Tokyo Olympics via European Qualifier in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.

Recently, the Poland Women’s National Team has been a topic mainly in the context of a conflict between a group of players and a head coach Jacek Nawrocki after the last CEV European Championships. The quintet of the players that questioned his methods and demanded his replacement wasn’t summoned already to the preliminary list. And these players (Katarzyna Zarśnińska-Król, Paulina Maj-Erwardt, Martyna Grajber, Zuzanna Efimienko-Młotkowska, and Kamila Witkowska) were on the roster for major events for years back. Nawrocki stated for Przegląd Sportowy that the rebellion of those 5 players had nothing to do with his decision regarding the roster that will compete in the Qualifications.

“I try not to think about those events. I left them somewhere aside. I don’t analyze girls’ behavior, I don’t identify it with anything. I have my view on the whole matter, but I don’t mix those events with preparation. We should no longer return to this topic. There’s no point in returning to something that doesn’t add anything constructive to our play,” Nawrocki said.

The 14-woman roster of Poland:

Setters: Marlena Kowalewska (Chemik), Joanna Wołosz (Imoco, ITA).

Opposite hitters: Martyna Łukasik (Chemik), Malwina Smarzek-Godek (Bergamo, ITA), Magdalena Stysiak (Scandicci, ITA).

Middle blockers: Klaudia Alagierska (ŁKS), Agnieszka Kąkolewska (Casalmaggiore, ITA), Anna Stencel (Pałac).

Outside hitters: Monika Fedusio (Pałac), Zuzanna Górecka (Novara, ITA), Natalia Mędrzyk (Chemik), Aleksandra Wójcik (ŁKS).

Liberos: Monika Jagła (Pałac), Maria Stenzel (Budowlani).
