Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata, a two-time CEV European Championship winner, once again confirmed that she is the closest to signing with Hinode Barueri for the 2017/18 but still did not pen the deal with the Brazilian club despite the fact that some media reported it…

“After the surgery, I looked at my leg and it did not seem as mine. It was so skinny and I had to regain full bend and flexibility. I barely walked up the stairs. For a month and a half, my rehabilitation exercises consisted mainly of lifting weights on the leg for two hundred times. Then I thought my return to the floor was rather impossible. It was easier when I finally began to see the effects of rehabilitation and started exercising,” a 34-year-old legendary Polish opposite explained for “Przegląd Sportowy” how she felt after undergoing a knee surgery.

“My parents and brothers told me, ‘Kasia, come on. You have already played enough’. Kuba (Jakub Dolata, her husband, and manager) said that I could not finish my career because it would not be in style. He knows me and knows that I would not be myself if I did not try to return. So, I had to be a hundred percent sure which side of that line I want to stand on. The love for sport and determination won. It would be a bad thing to end a career because of an injury,” Skowrońska-Dolata added and emphasized that she has not yet signed the contract with Barueri, the Brazilian side coached by a famous José Roberto Guimarães ‘Zé Roberto’, who was highly persistent in his attempts to have a Polish player in his squad for the 2017/18.

“I did not sign yet. Even when I was in Brazil in July, for a month, I did not have any formalities. I was going to the training center to see how it is. I exercised twice a day, I was rehabilitating. I tend more and more to this decision, but I am still not one hundred percent sure, although I declined the club from Bergamo (Foppapedretti, the club for which she competed at the time of getting injured) because I did not want to deceive them. I said I would either go back to Brazil or not go back at all,” Skowrońska-Dolata stated.
