One of the youngest clubs competing in the Russian women’s volleyball Championship, Sakhalin, has withdrawn.

Sakhalin

Sakhalin

Sakhalin, who was founded in 2012 and entered Superliga the same year, announced withdrawing from participating in this competition next season.

The management of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk side said they will take part in the rank from which they can try to regain the status of the Superliga members (Vishaya liga “A”) in 2020/21. This is a clear signal to the fans, that their club has aspirations to return to the elite rank as soon as possible.

The reason for such a decision lies in a reduction to the budget funds allocated from the Sports club Sakhalin to its volleyball section for the next season.
