How do you feel being included in the line-up after your full recovery from injury?
I am delighted, of course. It’s always nice to receive the call from the national team, and even more delighted for this tournament. It will be interesting there in Japan, to play with the strongest teams.
Russian team flies to the tournament without two key players Obmochaeva and Kosheleva. What do you think about Russian chances to win the Cup?
I personally don’t think so. We never go to competitions just for participation. It’s not our principle. I think we will handle the problem in Japan with everything we have, not to mention we have Sokolova with us this time.
Jordan Larson will also represent Team USA in Nagoya, Japan, where the tournament will kick off on November 12 . Have you talked to Jordan about this?
Of course. The conversation was about who would win the tournament we or United States. My answer, I think, is clear. Favorite team is really Brazil. Fe Garay, Fabiana, Taisa, Sheila, Dani Lins, Fabi, Adeneziâ, Camila Brait, Natalia, Tandara. All the leaders are in place except Jacqueline due to her family reasons. In any case, we will fight against the opponent. It is a matter of principle.
You have already communicated with the national team head coach Yury Marichev?
Yes. Yury came to Kazan in the semifinal round of the cup of Russia among the men’s teams. We girls at that time also were there and managed to talk to him.
Did Marichev explain the requirement or expectation to all of you?
No, we have not yet talked about such things. But I know that my team will put the highest tasks. Every coach has certain requirements, especially a lot for the setter in the game. There is a great desire to be used in Japan. I hope I could cope with it.
How much time have you spent this summer in the company of doctors?
Almost the whole summer I spent abroad, at the clinic. I don’t want to talk about it. Yes, it was an injury that I had. But I believe that everything will be fine. The main thing is that I’m playing again for the national team. And for girls I had all the time, I watch every game they play and root for them. I was very happy that they won the European Championship.
