In the rematch of the 2017/18 Superliga playoff semifinals for the 5th place, which secures a berth in the 2019 CEV Challenge Cup, Fakel and Lokomotiv played a set that lasted for 56 minutes and ended with a 48-46 (the 1st set) for Fakel! This was a record in Russia when it comes to the highest set score.
The clash was held four days ago and Fakel won by a 3-0, advancing to the finals against Belogorie Belgorod. These two were 17 points short of setting the new world record (Korean V-League, 2013: Jumbos vs. Rush & Cash, 56-54 in the 3rd set).
Treviso and Cuneo hold European record. The second set of the Italian SuperLega match in 2002 ended by a 54-52. Five years later, Greek sides AEK and PAOK tied this score in the Volleyleague game.
As for the European cups record, it was set two years ago in the 8th finals of the CEV Challenge Cup between the French Lyon and Romanian Arcada.
The same year, Qatar and Venezuela set the new record for national teams.
