“As this season gets underway here in Russia and I re-join my team in Kazan, I have realized it is time to take a break. This year has been so amazing winning the FIVB World League. Then we went to Poland for an incredible World Championships where we played brilliantly at times but came out below where we wanted to be. There was really no time for a break between the World Championships and the Club season, so I think it is best for me to take some time off right now. I love my Club here in Kazan and we have discussed the issue thoroughly. I am happy to say that they support my decision to take a break, even though they are disappointed that I will be leaving the team right now. I will now give my body time to recover fully and focus on helping the U.S. qualify for the 2016 Olympics next year, while spending some important time with my family back in the States. Big things are ahead and I want to be ready!” writes Matt on Facebook.
