RC CANNES maintains perfect record after speedy win over German guests
The home team totally dominated the scene tonight at “Palais des Victoires” and with another win next week in Germany RC CANNES would claim a spot for the 1/8 finals with still two legs to go before completion of the League Round.
The first ball was tossed by Gérard Bourrat, a native of Cannes and former marathon runner, who – after battling with cancer – has climbed to the top of the Mount Everest a couple of times.
His personality stands out as a real proof that everything is possible in life and he was loudly cheered by some 3’000 fans in attendance tonight at “Palais des Victoires”.
RC CANNES caught a great start in the opening set (5:0, 8:3, 11:3) and the home heroines did not slow their pace down stamping a massive 25-11 on the scoreboard.
SCHWERINER SC claimed the lead for the first time at the beginning of set 2 (2:3) but RC CANNES rapidly turned the score around (7:3) to wrap it up pretty quickly (16:10, 25-14) by profiting of the many mistakes committed by the guests.
The plot of the game did not change much in set 3 (8:5, 16:9) and RC CANNES could celebrate a well deserved 3:0 victory in less than one hour of play.
Nadia Centoni paced RC CANNES tonight with 16 points well supported by Tetyana Kozlova with 11 and Tina Lipicer Samec (10).
