Dominican Republic and United States secured a 3-0 victories in the Final Six Pan American Cup of Women’s Volleyball, held at the “Ricardo Arias” Volleyball Pavilion in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Dominican Republic vs. Cuba:
The Dominican Republic defeated Cuba with scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-18. Standout players included Brayelin Martínez and Alondra Tapia, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively. Despite a closely contested first set, the Dominican team excelled in blocking, outmatching Cuba 7-3.
Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek praised his team’s concentration and strong start, while Cuba’s coach Leivis García emphasized the need for fewer errors and stronger offensive plays.
United States vs. Mexico:
The United States overcame Mexico with scores of 33-31, 27-25, and 25-15. Jessica Mruzik led the U.S. attack with 15 points, supported by Sophia Fischer and Eva Hudson with 14 and 11 points respectively. Mexico’s Uxue Guereca scored 19 points, while Marian Ovalle added 9.
U.S. coach Brad Rostratter expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, especially given the international debut for many players. Mexico’s coach, Nicola Negro, noted his team’s strong start but highlighted their struggles in the third set.
