The president of the Russian Volleyball Federation Stanislav Shevchenko revelead some of the shocking facts about the national team in the interview for Sport Express.

The interview goes like this:

Is Yuri Marichev still the head coach of Russia women’s national team?

– His contract expired.

And what about Vladimir Alekno?

– He did not have contract at all.

How is that possible?

– We had an agreement that he would lead the team until the end of the Olympic Games 2016. But, we did not sign any paper.

So, you just shook hands and he started to work?

– Yes.

But, Alekno will get some salary for his work with the team, right?

– Only bonuses for the final standings.

So, he won’t get anything for the Olympic tournament?

– No. The same goes for the players. They only get paid in the national team if they win a medal.
