EMS Taubaté Funvic made a straight-set win over Pacaembu Ribeirão in Round 5 of the 2020/21 Superliga Banco do Brasil regular season for men and kept first place in the standings. At the same time, Taubaté nailed down rivals at the bottom of the charts (0-5).
Gabriel Cândido highlighted the winning side with 24 points, including 5 blocks. The victory was Taubaté’s fifth in as many games. They have two points more than vice-leaders Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei, who today beat Vôlei UM Itapetininga, also in straight sets.
Alan Souza top-scored the Contagem side with 14 points. Cuban Miguel López made 71 % attack (10/14), while Lucas Deus ’Lukinha’ had 70 % reception (40 % excellent).
