Former Brazilian star Nalbert Bitencourt (40) spoke in an interview for the Polish portal „Sportowe Fakty„ about the situation in his homeland regarding volleyball.

Nalbert is now a commentator for TV station SporTV and respected volleyball expert in his country.  He was the one of the first journalists to report on so-called „Dossier Volleyball“, revealing fraud in the CBV (Brazilian Volleyball Confederation).

Nalbert was the reporter on the match of his team and Poland in the last World Championship, so he was asked about the famous incident when Bernardinho showed an obscene gesture to one of the Polish journalists and when the players of Brazil showed the outrageous behavior towards the hosts.

“I was at the WCH in Poland and I saw what happened at the game Poland – Brazil. In my opinion Mário Júnior deserved his punishment. We have evidence he threw the towel at the table of the match supervisor, but I do not think that Murilo and Bruno deserved to be punished. As for Bernardo Rezende: he deserved suspension for criticism of the FIVB and the absence of the press conferences, but as many as ten matches? It’s too much. And I think it’s no coincidence that Bernardo, Bruno and Murilo are also leading the movement against corruption in the CBV. It makes me think that in this case there was some retaliation”, Nalbert suggested for sportowefakty.pl.

The word “retaliation” appears very often in the opinion of the Brazilians on the current head of the FIVB, Ary Graça.

“I absolutely agree with the opinion of the most of the players that Ary Graça betrayed our volleyball. If I was an active player, I would be one of the leaders of the movement against him! I am sure that the true lovers of volleyball and people which, over the years, built a complete success of it, will now show that the Brazilian volleyball is more than just a group of people picking up their personal benefits from the good of the country. If I was the new president of the CBV, my most important task would be to rebuild the image of the Brazilian volleyball after the scandal and to make a plan for the development of young players of all ages”, Brazilian makes it clear.
