Sesc vs. Corinthians
In Round 3, Minas beat Montes Claros Vôlei by a 3-1, in a very balanced derby of the Minas Gerais State (Clássico Mineiro), partially 20-25, 27-25, 25-22 and 26-24. Mostly thanks to the middle blocker Flávio Gualberto, Minas reached a 2-1 record to claim the 3rd place in the Superliga rankings with 7 points earned.
In a duel of the two Superliga newcomers, Sesc-RJ defeated Corinthians-Guarulhos in four sets thanks to respectable serving display (9 aces) and a lot of different ideas in the attack by the setter Thiago Veloso which caused that as much as 5 players make double digits. João Rafael Ferreira topped Sesc with 19 points while Maurício Souza contributed with 6 kill blocks. In Corinthians, Rodrigo Nascimento ‘Rivaldo’ scored 18 points, while Riad Ribeiro made 4 kill blocks.
