CEV Cup W: Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 Triumphs in CEV Cup

by WoV

Italian teams have once again proven their dominance in European competitions, achieving a continental treble in the women’s CEV tournaments. This exceptional feat was secured as Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 triumphed in the CEV Cup, adding to Novara’s earlier victory in the CEV Challenge Cup. The triumph anticipates an all-Italian clash in the CEV Champions League Super Final between Conegliano and Milano set for May 5th.

Chieri’s victory was marked by a commanding performance against the Swiss team Neuchatel, particularly in the first two sets where their robust defense and powerful attacks left their opponents reeling. Standout performances included Zakchaiou’s six blocks and Weitzel’s four, along with Skinner’s 11 and Grobelna’s 16 points, the latter earning MVP honors. The final score was a testament to Chieri’s prowess, clinching the match 3-1.

This win is a continuation of Italy’s volleyball excellence, reminiscent of the 2019 season when Italian teams also secured all three top European titles. The victory is especially sweet for Chieri, celebrating their second European trophy within a year (CEV Challenge Cup 2023 title won in Timisoara).
