Bulgaria is about to organize the FIVB Men’s World Championship next year but its national volleyball federation currently operates as an illegitimate institution!

According to the sportal.bg, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) did not renew its license with the Ministry of Sport for six months already. The BVF should have applied for the license renewal in April and the Ministry of Sport should have made the necessary assessment within two months. Interestingly, despite this, the BVF continued to get funding from the state despite its illegitimate operation.

What exactly does this situation mean in practice? Without a license, a sports federation is not entitled to organize domestic championships and international tournaments, to register sports results, to award titles, to determine the composition of national teams, and to receive state funding in any form. But most importantly, in regard to the upcoming 2018 FIVB World Championship, without a license, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation has no legitimacy before international volleyball institutions. Thus, has no right to host the above-mentioned tournament!

What will happen when International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) learns this?
