ITA M: Heynen – “I am afraid we can’t control this virus”

by WoV

At the end of Perugia’s victory, which keeps them on top of the standings, Vital Heynen shared his thoughts with the journalists:

Vital Heynen

Vital Heynen

We had two positive cases on Covid 19 and one hour before the game, when I arrived at the hall, Colaci was not feeling well. We have decided not to take any risks, I don’t know what he has, but we have decided to play only with 100% healthy players. So, also if we count Atanasijevic’s absence, we were missing four-player and I think that team gave a great show. It’s an important win for us. We played very well in two sets.“

Heynen didn’t hide his concern about the situation linked to the Covid 19.

I’m happy but I can’t be happy. A few times I have been afraid in my life, but now I am afraid because the virus is something that is impossible to control. It arrives and you don’t know-how. As a team and as a group we worked hard to keep him away, but it happened anyway and this is clearly a problem.”

Dear Coach Heynen,

Keep working hard at fighting this virus, be diligent and consistent. Never give up….ever.

Coach Heyne has always been a drama queen. His statements and body language are not the ones you would expect from a coach leader, a coach who manages elite athletes. An attitude he has towards this pandemic is his decision, and he feels sorry about himself.

Apparently he is infected with Corona right now, just like a large part of his team. He has all the right to worry, definitely since he’s closer to the age-group with the highest fatality-rates of any, and even after recovery there is no telling what other lasting effects the infection will have on him.
