CAC W: Yuliana Gonzalez led Costa Rica to new win, first victory for host team

Costa Rica and El Salvador scored their second wins at the XX Central American Women’s Volleyball Cup in Belize, while the home team celebrated their first victory.

On Day 2 of the competition, Costa Rica celebrated the new win and this time against Nicaragua after 104 minutes of play. Yuliana Gonzalez was the top scorer of the match with 18 points while Tannia Carazo scored 14 points. Helena Trana was the best in the losing team with 13 points followed by Amalia Hernandez who scored 12 points.

In the second match of the day, El Salvador outplayed Guatemala after uncertain five sets after and 128 minutes. Kathya Vasquez and Astrid Gonzalez were the top scorers of the match with 20 points each.

Shantell Arnold (11), Sherika Burton (11) and Tichele Solis (10) led Belize to their first win. Over 1000 people supported the girls who finished the match after three sets.

Day 2

Costa Rica – Nicaragua 3-1 (20-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-14)

El Salvador – Guatemala 3-2 (31-33, 20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-11)

Belize – Panama 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-14)
