In the first classic of the Belgian male volleyball this season, Knack Roeselare outplayed VC Greenyard Maaseik in straight sets and won the 2019 Supercup that was held in Kortrijk. The outcome of the sets shows that the difference in the first two sets was minimal and could go into the favor of either of the sides: 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-18). Although he just came out of the injury, Roeselare’s captain Hendrik Tuerlinckx was by far the most prominent player of his team in the match, scoring 17 points through 74% attack (14/19). For this, an experienced opposite hitter was awarded the Man van de Match trophy. Roeselare could not count on the Canadian duo Walsh – Jansen Vandoorn who is engaged in the 2019 FIVB World Cup. Lou Kindt scored 11 points for Maaseik. This was Roeselare’s ninth Super Cup, second in a row.
The Women’s Super Cup was held the same day and in the same place as Men’s and we could see another title defense there. Asterix Avo Beveren won the competition for the fourth successive time, the 12th overall. They beat Hermes Rekkenshop Oostende by a 3-0, only having problems to crack the rivals in the opening set: 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-18).
