NED W: Meijners returns to national team after 12 years

The Dutch Women’s Volleyball National Team head coach Giovanni Caprara has announced the preliminary list of players for the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament with one new name compared to several previous lists - Floortje Meijners.

Meijners returned to the Dutch National Team after more than a decade! The 32-year-old outside hitter played for “Oranje” last time at the 2007 FIVB World Grand Prix when she took a gold medal. After that, Meijners retired from an international volleyball for personal reasons.

She is enlisted along with 23 more players that will prepare for the European Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics whose host is exactly the Netherlands (Apeldoorn, January 7-12). The list of 24 players will be soon reduced to 18 names, while the final selection will consist of 14 players.

Laura Dijkema, Britt Bongaerts, Femke Stoltenborg, Sarah van Aalen, Myrthe Schoot, Kirsten Knip, Lonneke Slöetjes, Annick Meijers, Floortje Meijners, Nika Daalderop, Maret Balkestein-Grothues, Anne Buijs, Celeste Plak, Marrit Jasper, Nicole Oude Luttikhuis, Hester Jasper, Robin de Kruijf, Yvon Beliën, Nicole Koolhaas, Juliet Lohuis, Eline Timmerman, Indy Baijens, Tessa Polder, and Demi Korevaar.
