The libero Kirsten Knip is the third player of the National Team of The Netherlands that decided to temporarily put her career on hold this year. A player with 237 caps for “Oranje“ thus joined Slöetjes and Plak who reached the same decision.
The 28-year-old Knip said that she won’t be playing on a club level until January 2021 but will be at the disposal of the Dutch Team this summer when it gathers to train. She played for Romania’s CSM Volei Alba Blaj last season. Knip explained in an interview for the country’s federation website that she had an offer to continue playing in Romania but wanted to spend more time with her family.
She made her debut for the National Team of The Netherlands in 2012, becoming silver medalist at the 2015 and 2017 CEV European Championships and bronze medalist in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
